IN case you’re getting cabin fever and want to head out over the Christmas period, there’s an event in Kilflynn that’ll test your general knowledge.
The annual Kilflynn Cancer Quiz is celebrating its 15th anniversary and once again organisers are inviting teams to come along to Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar on Thursday night, December 28 at 9pm for what promises to be another great fundraising event.

Back in 2004 Fr Pat O’Donnell, a cancer survivor, came up with the idea of holding a fundraising quiz in Kilflynn at Christmas and so the Kilflynn Cancer Support Group was formed.
The success of that inaugural quiz ensured that it would become an annual event and to date over €67,000 has been raised for local cancer charities.
This year, the proceeds will again be divided between Recovery Haven Cancer Support House, Kerry Hospice and Kerry Cancer Support.
As well as being a great fundraiser, the quiz has become an integral part of Christmas celebrations in the Kilflynn community, with local families returning each year. As usual the quizmaster for the event will be John Flaherty.
