Council Asks Groups To Postpone County Clean-Up Event Until Next Week

KERRY County Council and KWD Recycling have asked those intending to participate in the annual County Clean Up on this Saturday to postpone any local clean-ups this weekend until next week.

They say no local clean-ups should take place this weekend because of the Status Orange weather warning associated with Storm Kathleen.

A weather warning for Kerry has been issued by Met Éireann and very windy and dangerous conditions are forecast between 7am and 5pm on Saturday. The hazardous conditions may have impacts through Sunday also.

The period during which participating groups can collect litter has been extended by a week until Sunday, April 14, after which date any waste collected will be disposed of.

The ask that Tidy Towns groups and other volunteers who had planned to take part in the County Clean Up on Saturday should carry out their clean-ups at another time after the weekend when it is safe to do so.
