Council To Receive Over €307,000 In Additional Funding For Works In Ballyheigue

KERRY County Council is to receive over €307,000 in additional funding for works in Ballyheigue.

The local authority made an application under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme for additional funding of €307,910 for the use of rock armour to stabilise the cliff, including a concrete toe anchored into rock, at Ballyheigue.

This funding is in addition to €231,489 previously approved on 30 June 2020 bringing the total funding allocation by the OPW for these works to €539,399.

Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley has welcomed the announcement saying; “I am delighted to see additional funding being allocated to Kerry County Council today so that these much needed works in Ballyheigue can be fully delivered without further delay.”
