The Countdown Is On To The Kingdom County Fair

THERE’S less than two weeks to go to the Kingdom County Fair which offers up a whole host of competitions and entertainment on the day.

Thousands of people are set to make their way to Ballybeggan on Sunday, May 7 for the event which is in its 68th year.

There’s a lot to look forward to for families and competitors alike. Family entertainment includes bouncy castles, kiddies disco, bonny baby, face painting, the kids favourite characters will be there with Kingdom Party Pals and a new addition is the Vortex Tunnel.

There’ll also be live music from Declan Nerney and his band, tug-o-war, sheaf tossing among many other activities. A fun dog show is also a highlight and entries (€5) are taken on the day from 1pm with judging from 2pm.

There will be an Irish dancing display, donkey derby, Tug-O-War, blacksmith, sheaf tossing and vintage. Vintage machinery is a very popular event and of course they will have Olde Time Threshing and tractor balancing.

There will be Home Crafts, Homebaking and Horticulture competitions with a Food Hall and Craft Fair.

The outdoor industrial section will once more offer a wide range of interesting trade stands.

Considered one of the county’s landmark events it showcases the best that Kerry and beyond has to offer in terms of livestock i.e cattle – dairy and beef and of course there will be the highlight of the day for many which is the show jumping events.
