FOR those of you looking to head out for a spin this weekend, the 8th annual Stephanie O’Sullivan’s Memorial Cycle in aid of Suicide Prevention is a great way of spending a Sunday morning.

The cycle starts and finishes at the Nagle Rice Community Centre in Milltown beginning at 9am. Cyclists can register Saturday night from 7.30pm – 8.45pm and Sunday from 8am and the registration fee is €20.

The cycle incorporates two distances of 40km and 80km taking in Killorglin, Caragh Lake, Beaufort, Fossa and finishing in Milltown. It offers a wonderful opportunity for novice cyclists and for cyclists training for the Ring of Kerry.

All cyclists and volunteers will enjoy a barbecue and live music afterwards, making sure it’s well worth the spin.

Stephanie tragically lost her life at the age of 20 years in November 2011. The annual charity cycle supports Killorglin Mental Health Association and Kerry Samaritans to raise awareness on the prevention of suicide.

“We look forward to another great day out and greatly appreciate all the support from cyclists, sponsors and volunteers in aid of two worthy suicide prevention services in Kerry. We hope that we can prevent future loss of lives and the trauma of losing a family member to suicide,” said Dan Joe O’Sullivan.
