He was presented his award by the KFW Irish Fashion Industry Awards in the Europe Hotel & Resort, Killarney, on Friday last.
The award is given as recognition to those (person or company) that are from or based in Kerry who have made a significant contribution to the fashion industry.
Previous recipients include Don O’Neill, Brian De Staic, Matt Doody, Hannons of Castleisland and MacBees.
“Twenty years ago, boutiques catering for plus size ladies were hidden up back streets, thankfully today the fashion world is learning to embrace all women regardless of their shape, age and size,” said the KFW producers.
“However, long before high street stores catered for the fuller figure, there was one lone pioneer championing the right for all women, to look stylish everyday, regardless of their size – and this man was Danny Leane, the worthy recipient of the KFW Merit Award 2015.”
“Danny Leane first opened his fashion boutique Annburys on a back street in Tralee in May 1999. He then moved to a side street and today is now located on Kerry most fashionable street, alongside major national and international outlets. He is a deserving recipient of the KFW Merit Award 2015, not only for making fashion inclusive for every woman, but also for his business acumen, and wonderful personality, which has endeared him to customers all over Ireland who trust him to dress them to make them feel stylish and confident everyday,” read the release from KFW.
