IT has been announced that, Kieran Donaghy, is the GAA GPA Player of the Month for September.
Kieran received the award in Croke Park alongside Kilkenny’s, Richie Power, who picked up the Hurling Player of the Month.
“Kieran Donaghy’s role in Kerry’s All-Ireland series push was nothing short of spectacular, powering their semi-final push before delivering in style and not for the first time in a winning final outing,” said President of the GAA, Liam O’Neil.
With the All Ireland final being the only game in September, the award can only be won on the strength of that performance.
This year’s final was a match where individual talent struggled to make an imprint on what was a tactical battle.
In the final, Kieran and Paul Geaney, finished top scorers with 1-2 apiece. Perhaps it was the Stacks’ man’s second half goal which turned the tide in Kerry’s favour that was the deciding factor in giving him the award.
