THE Progressive Pathways Fair returns this year and it’s a great opportunity for people aged 16 or over with health issues, illness, disability or other support needs to find out more about their employment options.

The Fair — which takes place at The Rose Hotel on Wednesday, January 30, from 12pm to 6pm — will have everything to inform those looking to progress to employment and further education and training, of all the options available to them.

Over 400 people attended last year’s event and it’s anticipated an even bigger number will converge on the Tralee venue next week.

This free event is organised by Employability Kerry and the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. Located at Upper Rock Street, Tralee, Employability Kerry provide a ‘one-stop shop’ support service for people with a health condition, injury or illness or disability and who are seeking employment or training.

If you live outside Tralee, there is free bus transport to the event from LocalLink Kerry from towns and villages all over north, south, east, west and mid Kerry. Click here to see the timetable and information on booking a bus seat.

There will be workshops and guest speakers — including Kieran Donaghy — and sign language interpreters will also be available throughout the day.

Over 30 stands on the day will offer information about supports from Department of Social Affairs, Kerry Education and Training Board, IT Tralee Disability Support Services, Assistive Technology, Kerry Down Syndrome, National Learning Network, Studio 3, Local Disability Support Services and many more.

This is also an important event for employers who can find out about supports and grants available at the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection Stand. These include the Employee Retention Grant Scheme, the Workplace Equipment/Adaptation Gran, the Wage Subsidy Scheme and the Disability Awareness Training Support Scheme.
