Youths League CS Abbeydorney 2 Fenit Samphires 4

Samphires got an away win in the Kerry U18 league last weekend in Mounthawk Park on a scoreline of 4-2 vs Abbeydorney. It wasn’t the best game of soccer either team has played with hard work rather than flashes of brilliance the order of the day.

From our point of view we would not be happy with the frequency we gave the ball away especially in the first half. Nevertheless we were 1 up at the interval courtesy of an Oisin O’Brien free kick and some good defending. We improved a bit in the second half with Sean Higgins and Oisin a threat when we got at their defence.

Oisin made it 2 nil, five minutes after the break but we immediately conceded from a corner . We had most of the play for the rest of the match and Sean scored a third with 15 to go after some good play involving Thomas Lenihan, Max Benner and David Murphy.

We had many chances in this last quarter but it was Abbeydorney with 10 minutes left on the clock who scored again which left it 3-2 to us. We continued to press and Oisin completed his hat trick after some determined play from Gordon Burrowes. Best for us were Eoghan O Brien,Padraig O Connor and Thomas Dwyer.

Seniors: Killarney Celtic 2- Fenit Samphires 3

Our senior team also racked up another win in Killarney. This game was a hard fought affair with our lads just about coming out on top with goals from Ger Mac, Ray Walsh and John Moran. Our league run is continuing with a 100% win rate so far and long may it continue!
