FenitSamphires_logoU13s: Fenit Samphires 5 – Listowel Celtic B 1

On a wet and windy Saturday morning in Fenit our 13s had a very impressive win over Listowel. Again we were deadly in front of goals winning 5-1 which gives us 11 goals in our first two games this season. Goals from Oisin Horgan, Conor Lenihan,Conor Gaynor, Johnathan Trent and Paddy Walsh sealed the win. Another fine performance from this team who continue their impressive start to the season.

U14s: Fenit Samphires 2 Listowel Celtic 1

Well done to our u14 team who got a hard earned 2-1 against Listowel in Fenit on Thursday. The game started brightly with both teams creating chances. Fenit then started to dominate possession and were the first to break the deadlock through a well worked goal from Cian Donnellan. Listowel continued for a goal but we kept things tight at the back through Conor Gaynor, Colm Healy, James Lynch and Niall Cassidy.

We held on until the half and were happy with that given we were against a strong win for the first half which made it difficult. Second half we came out sharp and within ten minutes had found the net again through Jack Falvey. Listowel again continued to push for goals but we defended well in numbers and cleared everything that came near our goal.

Listowel did get a consolation goals with five minutes to go but we held on very well and even continued to create some chances of our own which should of killed off the game. Another win for our young side who continue to impress more and more every game.

U17s: Mastergeeha 7 Fenit Samphires 1

Our 17s lost last weekend 7-1 after a disastrous first half performance when we conceded six to a very good Mastergeeha team. We were off the pace in all departments in this first half. Our defending was poor – our pressure of the ball and our covering of teammates was way off what was required. In attack our ‘shot selection’ was not good either and a number of good chances was spurned.

The only crumb of comfort was the second half saw a big improvement with the lads showing some pride and spirit, despite the score line and the cold, wet weather conditions. So we move on from here, lick our wounds, try to build on that second half and get back to winning ways in the near future.
