A FIRE has caused damage in a building on Denny Street overnight.
Three units of the fire service — two from Tralee and one from Castleisland —attended the scene of a fire in Finnegan’s hostel shortly before 4am. Gardaí and the fire service were alerted and the building was evacuated.
The fire service brought the blaze under control. The fire was confined to a floor in the upstairs part of the building, while the cafe on the ground floor and Finnegans restaurant in the basement are unaffected.
The scene is being preserved and there are some traffic diversions in the area although Denny St remains open.
