The Brexit Adjustment: Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme 2022-2023 is designed to support economic sectors, businesses and local communities and to support job creation.
The aim is to enhance, upgrade, modernise and develop Ireland’s publicly-owned coastal and marine infrastructure to facilitate diversification of economic opportunities.
Welcoming the news, Minister for Education and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley said: “I welcome this timely investment in marine infrastructure in Kerry. This funding will enhance, reshape and rebuild five key marine projects that are vital to the fishing industry. Brexit has had a particularly difficult impact on the fishing industry and this investment will ensure that industry can continue to benefit from safe, accessible, lasting infrastructure in our key harbours and ports.”
