Former Kerryman Boss Appointed Editor Of Kerry’s Eye

A FORMER editor of The Kerryman has been appointed to the position of editor of Kerry’s Eye.

Gerard Colleran will take over from Colin Lacey who is stepping down from the role. Mr Colleran will take up his new role in mid-November.

Mr Colleran started working in The Kerryman in the late 1970s, progressing to the editor’s job in 1994.

He left the paper in late 1999 when he was appointed editor of the Irish Daily Star, and later became Managing Editor of that paper. He left the Star newspaper in 2014.

Over the years he has been a regular contributor to TV shows such Questions & Answers, Prime Time, Tonight With Vincent Browne and Claire Byrne Live.

A graduate of University of Limerick where he received an MBA in 1993 and Harvard Business School in Boston, he was appointed as Adjunct Professor of Journalism at UL in October 2016 where he gave master classes to UL’s Journalism and New Media students as part of his role.
