FOUR Kerry players have received GAA/GPA All-Star nominations this morning.

Shane Enright, Killian Young, Paul Murphy and Paul Geaney – who is the only Kerry nominee without an All-Star – are up for honours to be announced at a special banquet in Dublin’s Convention Centre on Friday, November 4.

Dublin and Mayo, with 11 apiece, picked up the most nominations. Next are Ulster champions, Tyrone with six nominations, despite being beaten at the quarter-final stage by Mayo.

Tipperary, who were arguably the story of the championship have five players up for an award with Michael Quinlivan looking the likeliest to pick up an All-Star. There are three for Donegal and midfielder Gary Brennan is Clare’s only nominee.

Paul Geaney was picked on The Sunday Game team of the year which is not a bad yardstick for the All-Stars. Shane Enright may squeak himself into the right corner back position, which would be his second in two years.

Looking unlikely are Paul Murphy and Killian Young because of the competition in the half back and half-forward lines.

The player of the year nominations are Brian Fenton (Dublin), Lee Keegan (Mayo) and Ciarán Kilkenny (Dublin). And up for young player of the year are, Diarmuid O’Connor (Mayo), Josh Keane (Tipperary) and Jimmy Feehan (Tipperary).
