A WOMAN in Boherbee has had a few unwelcome visitors that have taken up residence near her home.

Three adult foxes have moved into the underneath of a chalet at the back of Helen O’Shea’s house and trying to shift them is proving a bit difficult.

Although the foxes appear to be peaceful, Helen is a bit worried about the new lodgers making an appearance while her grandchildren are over for a regular visit.

“All I want to see is them put out in the habitat they’re used to, I do not want them hurt,” said Helen, wife of the late John Mitchels GAA legend, John ‘Thorny’ O’Shea.

Ideally, Mrs O’Shea would like the foxes removed from the chalet without harming them and re-homed in the Slieve Mish mountains area. “They’ve been out there now for a few months and have dug a hole under the chalet, so I’m kind of a bit worried,” said Helen.

After contacting Kerry County Council, they advised Helen to seek assistance from the KSPCA, who told her they would not move the foxes because they were in a habitat.

Foxes are a mostly nocturnal animal, but Helen has seen the foxes out and about during the day time which has intensified her worries.

This is left Helen with a bit of a predicament, trying to remove the foxes from the grounds of her house without harming them. A number of people have been in touch with her in the past day to suggest ways of dealing with the problem so hopefully she’ll have peace of mind soon.
