Fudge represents Kerry in the Nose of Tralee.
VOTING opens today in the national ‘Nose of Tralee’ competition and a Kerry dog needs your help to win the title.
Fudge is an eight years old, long-haired Jack Russell and the much loved family pet of Sandra O’Sullivan from Ballybunion. She entered Fudge in the annual competition run by Pet Sitters Ireland and sponsored by Tesco, which is now in its 10th year.
Fudge was chosen as the Kerry entry and Sandra is hoping he’ll fend off competition from the 31 other counties to claim the sash and be declared Ireland’s cutest pet.

“Fudge first lived with my sister Lisa and her family,” explained Sandra from Ballybunion. “On one occasion my parents looked after him while they were away. They were totally smitten with him and didn’t want to part with him on Lisa’s return.
“It was decided then that he would live with them and Lisa and her family could visit everyday. Then, after 30 years living and working in Dublin, I moved back home to Ballybunion to help with my elderly parents during the pandemic.
“I was never allowed to have a pet in apartment living in Dublin. I was surprised at how fast I fell in love with him and he totally saved all three of us during COVID times. We are now inseparable and he comes everywhere with me,” said Sandra.
