FUNDING of over €26,000 has been awarded for the production of specialist programmes on Radio Kerry.

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD,  today welcomed the announcement by Coimisiún na Meán of the award of €8.6 million to broadcasters and independent producers under rounds 51 and 52 of the Broadcasting Fund Sound and Vision Scheme.

Round 51 of Sound and Vision focused on programming about gender equality, diversity and inclusion of new Irish communities and voices, and the level of allocations was enabled, in part, by additional exchequer funding secured by Minister Martin.

The funding contributes towards Mairéad Ní Mhathúna making four different programmes on Radio Kerry — 20 episodes of Gaeilge Le Chéile 3 (€8,619); 10 episodes of Logainmneacha Chiarraí Volume 2 (€8,456); A Green and Gold Vintage Run (€4,722) and Shores of Strength: Women in Tralee Bay’s Oyster Harvest (€4,670).
