GARDAI are warning bicycle owners to be vigilant after a number of thefts in Tralee and around the county.

They say they have noticed a trend that thefts increased around Tralee, especially during the Easter holidays.

They are advising people to take precautions and that if your bike is stolen, please contact the gardaí as soon as possible with a detailed description of the bicycle, as early contact can be vital in retrieving it.

They also recommend taking a photo of the bike and serial number after purchasing it in case it is stolen so the gardaí will have a better chance of getting it back.
