Government To Provide Over €2.4m In Housing Adaptation Grants For Kerry

THE Government is providing Kerry with €2,405,000 in Housing Adaptation Grants for older people and people with a disability, while Kerry County Council will provide a further €601,250 for the scheme.

Grants of up to €30,000 are available to assist people with a disability in carrying out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs.

Additionally, grants of up to €8,000 are available to assist older people to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out on their homes and grants of up to €6,000 are available for mobility aids.

Minister Norma Foley has welcomed the news saying; “This funding will have a huge impact on the quality of life of the many beneficiaries and will enhance the lives of older people and those with disabilities throughout County Kerry.”

“Home adaptations are vital to ensure that people who are reaching an age in life when they are less mobile have the option to continue to live independently in their own homes.”
