Joan Hussey will speak at the Padre Pio Devotions tonight (Tuesday) in Castleisland.

THE monthly Padre Pio Devotions night in Castleisland has been moved to the second Tuesday of each month and the April celebration of the life and works of the Italian saint (1887 – 1968) will be held tonight, Tuesday, April 9, at 7:30pm.

The ‘witness’ is one of the central aspects of each night’s proceedings and tonight Joan Hussey from Kilflynn is the invited guest.

Joan’s powerful, experience-backed message is one of hope from the darkest possible place. She and her husband Pat lost their 11 year old son David in a road traffic accident in 1990.

Their sense of hope was bolstered by the fact that David’s donated organs gave life and hope to another.

“I’m not a public speaker or anything like it and my message is always that we just have to have hope. Without hope we just could not survive and that’s the message I’m bringing to Castleisland tonight,” said Joan during a telephone chat this morning.

The always brimming petitions box will be brought to the altar for blessings and consideration by celebrant Fr. Mossie Brick and prayers from him and his congregation present and on-line.

The box holds pleas for health and healing dropped in by family members or friends of people who are in need of help and hope at a particular time in their lives. Padre Pio’s Healing Glove will be available for blessings on the night.
