UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

We had a wonderful indoor session on Sunday at your Ballyseedy complex.
The emphasis this morning was on fun and games.
Particularly with the focus on fundamental movements.
We had some great relay and obstacle races and as ever all skills were practiced with enthusiasm.
We train again Sunday week at 10.30.
As ever new member’s welcome

U12 Girls

Our U12 girls season came to a close this week and it’s been a season of constant development , improvement and success. The girls were an absolute great bunch to coach all season and they showed unbelievable commitment and dedication as they wore the jersey with pride since we began last February.

We will celebrate our success in the North Kerry and Tralee town league on Tuesday November 1st at 7:30 pm when we will gather together at our Complex in Ballyseedy to reflect on a super year.

Parents and Guardians are more than welcome to join us for a cup of tea , and on behalf of the coaching team we would like to say a massive thanks to all the parents and guardians who brought the girls to training each week.

We will begin our winter training programme for the girls who will play with the U14 team next year

( born 2010 or earlier ) on Tuesday nights from 6-7 pm.

Thanks to everyone who played a part in the U12 girls journey this year. To Tanya,  John , and Thomas who coordinated all our fixtures each week and ensured that our playing pitches were always available and set up to perfection. And to Dorota, Olivia and Marie who helped us all season long and who looked after the girls so well.

It’s been a week of great success for the ladies in our club as 3 new pieces of silverware crossed over the threshold for our U12,  14 and Senior Ladies and we are extremely proud of you all.

Up the Mitchel

U14 GIRLS

North Kerry u14 Shield Final

John Mitchels 5-6

Currow 3-6

A terrific strong scoring first half from John Mitchels u14 girls in their final game of the season saw the team bring home the North Kerry u14 Division 4 Shield, with a strong victory over Currow in Ballyseedy on Thursday night.

It was a well-deserved victory and after having tasted defeat in their previous 2 finals of the season, it was deserved for the amount of work that the girls put in during the season.

The early stages of the game saw Mitchels dominate and they hit the crossbar three times in quick succession before Currow opened the scoring with a point. However, with Kerri Falvey making strong runs through the Currow defence and Lisa O’Shea working hard close to the square, goals from Lisa and Kerri (2) put Mitchels in control.

Currow came back into the game with a fortunate goal, but Mitchels kept popping scores and a late goal from Lisa O’Shea left it 4-4 to 1-3 at the break.

Scoring slowed down in the second half but Currow never gave up and kept creeping back into the game. However, performances from the likes of Laoise O’Sullivan, Nicole Hennig and Nadya Rivas McHugh kept the team ticking over and when substitute Megan Noonan slipped a pass inside to Lisa O’Shea for her third goal, it was too much for Currow to overcome.

A great end to a great season and captain Ellie O’Rahilly picked up the trophy to crown a great night. Huge credit to the team for their work over the season where the atmosphere among the girls has been consistently strong.

Team:

Grace O’Regan, Gia Sharma, Sadhbh Corkery, Eabha Mullen, Laoise O’Sullivan, Ava Sharma, Nicole Hennig, Ellie Rahilly, Nadya Rivas McHugh, Ellie Feehan Reidy, Bridget Stewart, Ciara Harris, Kerri Falvey, Lisa O’Shea, Ella McCannon.

UNDER 15 BOYS

On Sunday we played our final game of the u15 season which saw us at home to a strong Ballymac team.

Trailing by only 3pts at half time the lads put in a maximum effort for the second half, only for the Ballymac goal keeper who pulled off three top drawer saves to deny us 3 certain goal chances.
This would have put us in a great position, but we ended up losing by a few points in the finish.

I’d like to thank all the under 15 players and mentors for their efforts during the season much appreciated we will be in touch about the strength and conditioning training for the winter months cheers for yere efforts during the year.

UNDER 17 BOYS

The u17 boys are training again Thursday night 6pm to 7pm.

We were due to play Na Gaeil  in the final.

New fixture to follow shortly.

SENIOR LADIES

Friday Oct 21st 2022 will go down as a memorable night in the annals of our Senior Ladies progress in ladies’ football as we played Dingle in the North Kerry Ladies Div 3 league Cup final.

This was not a game for the faint hearted as it ebbed and flowed for the 60 minutes, played under lights in Ballyseede in what were near storm conditions.

Mitchels played against the wind and rain in the first half and got off to a great start after winning the throw in with Simi and Sarah leading to some fine interchange passing from Diana , Ava and Linda leaving Rachel in to finish to the net for a fine goal, Dingle though weren’t here to make up numbers responded with 3 lovely points  to level the game.

A well worked movement from Kayleigh through Tanya Anna , Ashleigh and Linda lead to a great pass to Shauna who finished to the net with style leaving us 1 goal up. Once again Dingle who were tigerish in attack clocked up 2 more points before a high dangerous ball landed in the net for a Dingle Goal, mitchels however responded with a ball from Julie Lauren and Emilia left Shauna in for another goal,

fearless defending from Shannon and Lauren kept Dingle out and further points from Sarah , Linda and Diana  left the half time score Mitchels 3-3 Dingle 1-7 all to play for

Conditions got worse with the rain now pelting down making ball handling very difficult as Dingle came out all guns blazing and tacked on a further 2 points to level the game mid way through the second half, mitchels now pushed forward in search of the lead and a free from Rachel cut it to a 1 point game,

Dingle though we’re never to to give up and a sweeping move saw them score a second goal to go 2 points up with the clock ticking, mitchels pressed forward and a foul on Sandra lead to a pointed free from Rachel and a surging run from Anna who pointed to level the game with 4 mins remaining ,,, heart stopping moments ,,, mitchels pressed up on the kick out and won a free about 30 mtrs out which Rachel converted to put us a point up to the loud cheers of our loyal supporters who were saturated at this point,,, try as they may Dingle were kept on their own half and the final whistle blew for a magnificent win to the delight of Mitchels players, management and supporters,

Final score mitchels 3-6 Dingle 2-8,,, after the match the trophy was presented to winning Captain Sarah Kilgallen who thanked Dingle for a fantastic game and mitchels players and management and supporters ,,, this was really a great team performance everyone dug deep to win the final.Congrats ladies on a great win.
