Senior Men
Our senior men faced Fossa at home on Sunday afternoon in front of a great crowd. Fossa started the bidding with a point from play 1.43 mins in and a second in under a minute later. It took Mitchels until the 17th and a half minute to get onto the score board with a fine free by James Duggan.
By then the score was 0-06 to 0-01 in favor to Fossa. Mitchels dug deep and chipped away at the score board with two more points from James Duggan brining Mitchels gap down to 5 by half time with a score of Mitchels 0-03 Fossa 0-08.
After the break Fossa came out with another 2 points to add to their tally but Mitchels didn’t give up hope just yet as James had a few points added to the score board once again. Fossa struck with a goal at the 17th minute of the second half adding more pressure to the game. Luckily Mitchels responded with the next few scores keeping Fossa at bay points coming from James Duggan and Cian Holden.
The next point from Mitchels edged wide of the posts and two minutes later Paudie White was in on goal to tighten up the scores with the ball rattling the back of the net. Unfortunately 3 minutes later Fossa rattled the Mitchels net with a goal of their own making the score 1-09 to 1-11 in favor of the visitors.
Fossa went on to pop one more point over the bar making the full time score 1-12 to 1-09 to Fossa. Well done to our senior players coaches and management you all did the club proud.

Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies continued their preparations for the next round of the Donal Curtin Cup with a further couple of training sessions on Thursday and Sunday last. Again, Thursday’s session varied with fitness work and some skills of the game while Sunday’s session concentrated on both the fitness side and some tactical game awareness.
The players put in a huge effort at both training sessions which augurs well for the remainder of our season. We also welcomed back another of our injured personnel at Sunday’s session so things are starting to take shape very nicely.
As always, all new members are welcome where they will get to improve their fitness levels, improve their football and most importantly make new friends.
Training continues on Thursday evening at 7.15and we face an Annascaul/Castlegregory combination team next Sunday at home in the next round of the Donal Curtin Cup where we hope to build on our first 3 games in the competition.
Under 6s and 7s boys and girls
We had a fantastic morning training in our ballyseedy complex. The under 6 were joined by the under 7s and both groups trained together.
Some of the under 15 squad turned up to help and they were of huge benefit. Catch the coach was particularly interesting.
We had an information morning upstairs for parents while training continued downstairs.
Tea/ coffee and sandwiches were onsite while the parents were addressed by our chairperson Brid Mcelligott, vice chairman Mark mcevoy and under 6/7 coach Fergus Foley.
Training continues this Sunday morning at 11am and as always, new members are always welcome.
Under 8 and 10 Girls
Our u8 & u10 girls had a good turnout for Sunday. A quick warmup followed by kicking, tackling and soloing drills, and a short competitive game.
We are looking forward to next Sunday morning’s training at 10:30am sharp. New players always welcome.
Under 12 Girls
The girls arrived to a beautiful sunny John Mitchels on Wednesday evening to be presented with brand new footballs for training.
The girls worked on fundamental movements, skills & finished with a game.
Training continues every Sunday 12-1 & Wednesday 7-8pm, new comers welcome
Under 14 Girls
John Mitchels U-14 Girls Teams were in action in league finals in Ballyseedy in Sunday evening and we were delighted to take victory in both games. The first game against Dr. Crokes saw a dominant performance through out with our defence restricting Dr. Crokes to very few efforts on goal while our attack was in sharp form particularly Kerri Falvey who scored a whopping 8 points from play.
While Crokes attempted a comeback in the second half further scores from John Mitchels as well as a tightening up of defense saw Mitchels as comfortable winners.
Our gold team had a much tighter affair against St. Pats with a goal from Ella Dennehy proving crucial in sending the game to extra time.
The game was tightly balanced but critical scores from Chloe O’Brien and 1-1 from Anne-Marie Perkins saw Mitchels take victory in an exciting finish.
Under 16 girls

Under 11 boys
With no matches this week we trained on Thursday evening, concentrating on the core skills of the game. We also conditioned our skills session to allow the boys develop their skills under pressure from their teammates. On Sunday we had the honour of being able to play an exhibition game at half time of our Senior Men’s home game against Fossa. We had a great turn out and the boys performed brilliantly. They also got a great reception from the crowd as they came off the pitch. Well done to all our U11 players.
