ACADAMH NA nÓG

Congrats to Mags Lacey and Clodagh Hurley who were the names drawn for ‘ Our Club Mom’s Competition’ for Mother’s Day last weekend.

Both Moms received a beautiful chocolate hamper compliments of ‘Tralee Chocolate Heaven’, a local business with hand made chocolate by Siobhán O’ Brien Murphy. We are looking forward to tasting more of Siobhán’s treats .

Clodagh Hurley with her prize.

Thank you to everyone who sent In photos. We hope that Moms enjoyed their day and we also are  thinking of the wonderful Moms who are no longer with us .

ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Unfortunately due to Covid 19 restrictions we cannot meet for the annual parade through Tralee town. Instead Clare Walsh and Nora Corridon have put together a fab virtual parade . This can be watched live from 12p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day via the Co. Council YouTube channel.

STUDY INTO TEENS DURING COVID
Please read the link below if you have teenage children:
A team of psychologists at NUI Galway and Trinity are running a study into how teenagers (12-18yrs old) are being affected and coping during the COVID-19 pandemic – the ‘ADAPT RESEARCH STUDY’. The study basically involves participants completing 3 15-minute questionnaires over a year.  It is expected that this study will then help identify the needs of young people going forward based on good quality research.
The team of researches have received the backing of the GAA, LGFA and Camogie with a view to encouraging as many young people as possible take part.

The challenge as you might expect is getting enough 12-18yr olds sign up given current Covid restrictions, school closures, associated  pressures, etc and the requirement for parent/guardian consent..

NÓTAÍ NA mBAN
We are asking everyone who does a shop in Lidl to please support our U8 and U10 Girls who need their own set of jerseys. Thanks in advance!

As we all only know too well, Covid- 19 has brought club games and activities to a halt and has delivered many challenges to those in our club and community. We as a club have responded helping the vulnerable members of our community and supporting a range of online health and fitness initiatives . Our teams might not be out on the pitch but our team spirit is still high.

GAELIC4TEENS
We are looking forward to our first G4T webinar this Monday with Will Harmon which will be focusing on coaching behaviours and approach!
Our G4T ambassador Orlagh Farmer will also be joining the webinar. Orlagh kept many of us busy with her fun online fitness sessions during lockdown last year.

U16 GIRLS
Our online classes continue with MTU this Monday evening. Many thanks again to our wonderful coaches. The girls are enjoying their S&C classes.
Last Thursday evening we had Kerry footballer Lorraine Scanlon join us on a zoom call. Thanks to Lorraine, the girls were delighted to chat with you and would love to meet you in person in time to come.

MINOR/ SENIOR LADIES
The ladies are showing up in great numbers to our online classes. We have 2 weekly S&C classes as well as a weekly fitness test.
It is with no doubt that both our coaches and players are itching to get back on the field sooner rather than later.
Our door is always open to all ladies to join at any level. Please contact Shirley, our club secretary (086) 8713552 .
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank some of our U16s who played a pivotal role in the minor success because without them we would have struggled to field a team…. so a massive thank you to Kelly Fitzgerald, Hollie Leane, Keelan Coffey, Lily O’ Brien, Katie Nix, Bronagh O’ Carroll, Eugenie Kerins and Kate Kerins. These girls made themselves available to us  as much as possible and were hungry to play football at all levels, playing in 3 age groups- U16, Minors and even Seniors. These young girls were out 6, sometimes 7 days a week and on occasions we had to tell them to take a break but only fell on deaf ears!
We would like to thank Shannon McIneney who took some fantastic action shots of the girls throughout the year.
We had a number of serious injuries throughout the year also which took some players out of it … Liana Williams, Olivia Nix, Katie Nix and Bronagh O’ Carroll all sustained injuries but are now fully recovered and 100% ready for the year ahead. We are delighted to see them back.
Congrats to everyone who took part in the KORusalema challenge and to everyone who donated. 30% of the proceeds are going to the Palliative Care Unit, UHK and the balance to our juvenile club.
Rory Kerins, Erris O’ Carroll, Danny Leane and Damien Kissane ( Senior Management.)
