Kerins O’Rahillys 1-11 Kilcummin/Rathmore 0-10

A great team display gave us a deserved win over East Kerry side Kilcummin//Rathmore played at the Caherina grounds in ideal conditions on Saturday evening.

Kerins O’Rahillys were in control from the throw in and had great individual displays from Cormac Coffey, Jack Savage, Gavin O Brien, Diarmuid O’Sullivan, Cian Sayers and Karl Mullins. Points by Jack Savage, Cormac Coffey, and Cian Sayers had us ahead by 0-03 to 0-01 at the 8th minute.

Further points by Jack Savage and Cian Sayers left the half time score at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-06 to Kilcummin/Rathmore’s 0-04.

The second half saw us play some great football with the backs dominant Tommy Begley, Gavin Ryan, and Martin Tierney doing some great work. With Cormac Coffey setting up the attacks and great fielding by Gavin O’Brien, we had our opening point from Jack Savage followed by the only goal of the game a high ball fielded by full forward Diarmuid O’Sullivan and coolly slotted to the net by O’Sullivan leaving us ahead by 1-07 to Kilcummin/ Rathmore’s 0-06 at the 40th minute.

Points by Gavin Ryan and Dylan Ronan increased our lead and a great point by wing back Karl Mullins left us ahead by 1-10 to 0-07 at the 51st minute.

Kilcummin/Rathmore did peg back a few points but we held on for a deserved win. Other players to impress were Robert O Connor in goals, Pádraig Griffin, David Murphy, and Ronan Quill.

Minors

Co Minor Championship Kerins O’Rahillys 4-10 An Ghaeltacht 0-07

A blistering first half display gave us the cushion to advance to the next round in the Minor Championship with a well deserved win over An Ghaeltacht played at Strand Road last Friday evening. Two well taken goals by Pádraig Griffin and a third by the impressive Aaron Roche put us on the way to victory.

We led at half time by Kerins O’Rahillys 3-07 to An Ghaeltacht 0-03 and the game as good as over. Diarmuid O‘Sullivan and Donagh Buckley dominated mid field and the backline of Eoin Edwards, Dylan Ronan and Rory O’Connor were rock solid in the full back line with Ben O’Neill, Karl Mullins and Sean Collins outstanding.

Pádraig Griffin was a thorn in the Ghaeltacht’s defence and others to impress were Tom Hoare, Gary Nolan, Rory O’Connor, Gearoid Savage and James O’Connor putting in a great hours football. Shane Foley had a fine game in goals with some splendid kick outs. Next game is Round 1 which is against East Kerry and will be played in Fossa on Wednesday the 8th at 7pm.
