Garvey’s Super Valu Co Championship Round 2B

Kerins O’Rahillys 3-11

Feale Rangers 1-11

We advanced to the next round of the Co. Championship with a deserved win over Feale Rangers played at the Sportsfield last Saturday evening in ideal conditions.

Goals win matches and we got them at the right time especially the one before half time when Tommy Walsh set up namesake Kevin Walshe who put a piledriver past the Feale Rangers goalie and gave us the lead at half time by Kerins O’Rahillys 2-07 to Feale Rangers 0-05 and our third goal when a great pass by Barry John Keane set up David Moran for a peach of a goal that ended the game as a contest.

It was Feale Rangers though who dominated the first ten minutes and had most of the possession and led by one point to no score after 2 minutes. Two frees by Jack Savage steadied the ship and with David Moran dominating mid field with great catches ably assisted by John C O’Connor we dominated proceedings.

A great run through the middle by Tommy Walsh saw Walsh hit a rocket of a shot beating the goalie to the right corner of the net leaving us ahead by 1-02 to Feale Rangers 0-01 at the 7th minute.

Two great points by Barry John Keane from play followed by a Cormac Coffey point after a great run saw us ahead by 1-05 to Feale Rangers 0-04 at the 16th minute. Feale Rangers added another point and were coming more into the game but two more points from Barry John Keane who was outstanding put further daylight between the sides.

Then the second goal when Kevin Walshe shot to the top corner of the net to leave the half time score at Kerins O’Rahillys 2-07 to Feale Rangers 0-05. Though Feale Rangers narrowed the gap in the second half some great points again by Barry John Keane kept us well ahead.

The backs though under pressure at times responded well with Danny Sullivan doing some great covering ably supported by Shane Brosnan, Tommy Begley, David Murphy, Cian Sayers and the outstanding Cormac Coffey.

Up front Barry John Keane was in great form along with Jack Savage, David Mc Loughlin and Tommy Walsh. Then our third goal when David Moran rattled the net from close range to seal the issue and we now await the draw for the next round which could be out awhile due to Kerry players involved with the county.
