Na Gaeil Ladies Blitz

We travelled to Na Gaeil Under 10 Blitz last Saturday week and it was a great success. We got our fixtures and we had three games v Scartaglin, Austin Stacks and Abbeydorney. This was one of the first Under 10 blitzs we took part in and it was a great day for all. The team got their photo taken and were presented with their medals by Kerry star Aidan O’Mahony.

We were well looked after by all in Na Gael with goodie bags and drinks given out to all the teams and all the games went like clockwork. It was a great blitz and well done to Na Gaeil club for a great days football.

Under10 Ladies Blitz Passage West Cork

We travelled to Passage West, Cork last Saturday morning to their Annual Under 10 Blitz. Over a 100 teams took part from all over Ireland and its a great credit to the Passage West club who put on a brilliant days entertainment for all the participating teams, with face painting, tea and sandwiches, finger food and of course games for all participating clubs.

It was an early start with the bus leaving the Strand Road clubhouse at 7.30am. We made great time on the journey to Cork and after registration got ready with our banners for the big parade with all the other teams through Passage West village and back to their club.

Shortly after the games got underway and all our Group games were against Cork clubs with 11 a side and total game of 12 minutes. Our first game was against St. Patricks of Cork and our girls got stuck in from the word go with good performances from Rachel Foley, Lauren Doody, Aoibhin O’Connor, Kelly Fitzgerald, Fiadh McCarthy, and Farah Leahy.

Our next game was against O’Donovan Rossa, Skibereen home of Irelands 2 silver medallists the O’Donovan brothers and players to impress here were Saoirse O’Connor, Taylor Kate Leane, Millie Hayes , Jessica Lynch and Sophie Hassett. Our third game was against Erin’s Own and players who impressed here were Ella O’Connor, Donna Regan, Taylor Stack, Hollie Leane and Keelan Coffey and Aoibheann McCarthy. Our last game was against East Cork side Lisgoold and we were lucky as just after the final whistle the rain stared to come down. All the girls were presented with their medals and we headed for home stopping off at Supermacs Killarney for a meal .

It was a great day for all and many thanks to Juvenile secretary Cathy McCarthy for co coordinating the trip. A big thanks to Elaine, Patricia, Ava, Jodie, and Betty, for all their help on making it a great day and to Cliff, Danny and Dan for helping out with the teams in all the games.
