Seniors:

We return to county league action on Friday night next, 10th May when Spa are the visitors to Strand Road for round 6 – throw in is @ 7.15 pm

Division 6A:

We continued our good run in Div 6 with a 3-12 to 2-10 win over Legion on Friday night last, 3rd May. Jake Hoare with two goals and TJ McMahon with the other were our goal scorers. We will play Ballylongford, away, in our final game on the weekend of 19th May.

We currently sit in 2nd place in the group and are well set for a play off place.

Kerry Seniors:

Kerry retained their Munster senior championship when defeating Clare on Sunday on a final scoreline of 0-23 to 1-13. It was far from a vintage Kerry performance but management will be happy with the progress being made.

Uniquely, we had 3 former club managers on the sidelines – Jack O’Connor and Micheál Quirke were in the Kerry dugout with Mark Fitzgerald in the Clare camp.

Mark has done a terrific job in Clare since taking over from Colm Collins last year; Clare were largely a new side from that which  contested last year’s final and they displayed all the qualities that Mark espouses – a strong defence, competitive and combative forwards and midfield – they were in the game all through and their total of 1-13 speaks for itself.

Attention now turns to the qualifiers with Kerry in Group 4 where they will be joined by the runners up in Leinster as no 2 seeds,  with Monaghan @ 3 and Meath @ 4 – this will mean a home game in Killarney on weekend of 18/19th vs Monaghan, followed by a trip to Navan vs Meath and concluding with a neutral game vs Leinster runners up.

Clare for their part are in group 3 where they will face the Ulster provincial winners plus Tyrone and Cork.

Kerry U20s:

Kerry were too good for Cork in the Munster final played in Austin Stack Park on Weds night last 1st May.

Tomás Kennedy was our sole starting representative and though wearing 12 played the vast majority of the game at full forward; he scored the game’s only goal when rifling in a shot just minutes into the 2nd half and went on to play a starring role as Kerry rattled off the points to secure a well merited win.

He had what can only be described as a stupendous catch in the 2nd half which drew much admiration from the crowd.

Kerry will now play Meath on Sat 11th next in the All Ireland semi final in Thurles where throw-in is @ 3 pm; Roscommon and Tyrone contest the other semi final.

We would like to wish Tomás all the best along with Ben Hanafin and Darragh who are members of the panel.

Juvenile Academy Notes:

Another great morning was had by all Sunday morning in Ballyrickard, numbers were high despite been a Bank holiday weekend and Munster Final day. All age groups enjoyed their morning and coaches have asked that they all practice their skills during the week at home with the videos shared on clubzap groups.

U9 Boys

U9 Boys:

The U9’s travelled cross country to Rathbeag Friday evening to play Rathmore in the next round of Go-games. Our boys played great football, showing off some really nice passages of play. Kudos to Rathmore for having everything so well organised before we arrived. We wish them all the best for the season ahead. They also enjoyed a well deserved break from academy Sunday morning.

U11 Boys

U11 Boys:

Great football played by both u11 teams in Pat Healy Park Ballyrickard Thursday evening. It was great to see the boys showing off their skills, teamwork and pride in the blue and white jersey. They had a skills based training session on Saturday finishing off their week nicely.

Congratulations to our U13 player Rían Tuohy who was chosen to play in the Primary Games at half time in the Munster final Sunday – Rian scored 4-03 on the day!

Congratulations to Ruarì Kennedy and Nick Lacey who both started for Kerry Under 16s in a win vs Laois Saturday. Ruarì started in goals while Nick started at corner forward and scored 1-3. Everyone in Kerins O’Rahillys is very proud.

U16 Girls

A good week this week although numbers were down at training on Tuesday,  with our older girls playing a minor game;  those  who trained put in a good session with speed gates to make it interesting.

On Thursday we played Listowel at home even with the distraction of a late time change our girls stayed focused for what was a true fight –  we came out on top on the night putting us in a great position with 8 goals from Aimee, Aoife, Chloe and Aoibheann final score was  8-9 to 2-13.

Our focus is now on feile on Monday –  our management were delighted to be asked to take the team again this year and held a light training session over the weekend in preparation. Best of luck to the girls.
