Kerry FC had 3 teams in action at the weekend with mixed results.

Top billing this week goes to the Kerry under 14 team who turned in a great performance against Wexford FC on Saturday afternoon in Mounthawk Park.

Unfortunately results are not registered at this age group.However the youngest of the Kerry FC teams have made great progress in the last month.

This is mainly  due to top class coaching under the guidance of head coach Donagh O Brien. On Saturday they started in whirlwind fashion and created chances from the kick off.Callum Robertson hit a post in the 7th minute.Ciaran McGrath was denied by Wexford’s keeper minutes nevertheless the goal eventually came.

Cody Shanahan put in Callum Robertson with a defence splitting pass and Robertson found the net in style.Kerry continued to press thanks to great work rate and skill by the Kerry midfield.

Shane O,Donavan, Odhran Foley and Jayden Corcoran impressed in this department throughout the day. Kerry grabbed a second goal in the 37th minute.

Edison Jahiri was brought down just outside the box. Edison took the free kick himself and sent a brilliant free kick around the wall to put Kerry 2-0 ahead.

Wexford  regrouped in the second half and created chances.Jack Daly at centre back was a tower of strength in trying to keep the visitors at bay .

However the Leinster side pulled a goal back through Johnathan Nazum in the 67th minute. The final quarter saw both sides produce many chances in a pulsating encounter.On the day Shane O, Donavan was Man of the Match.

Under 17 League Kerry FC 1 v Klub Kildare 4.

Kerry FC under 17 side were also in action on Saturday but found no joy against a strong Kildare side.

The visitors started strongly and dominated the opening quarter.Kildare took the lead in the 16th minute when Ryan Markey was at the end of a sweeping passing movement. Ruairi Morgan added a second goal in the 33rd minute to see the  visitors go in 2-0 ahead at the break.

Kerry tried hard after the restart thanks to trojan work by Tom Healy in the middle of the park.Andrew Kerins nearly reduced the deficit four minutes after the restart.

He had the vision to spot Kildare’s keeper off his line and hit a pin point shot from 35 metres out. The ball looked destined for the top corner but somehow Conway in goal tipped over to prevent an audacious goal.

Shortly afterwards Kildare sealed the points when Cameron Rogers netted. Kerry to their credit continued to press and were rewarded when Shayne Stack reduced the deficit in the 80th minute with a great strike.

Ryan Markey however had the final say for Klub Kildare with a late goal,to ensure that the points for this strong side.

Under 15 League Kerry FC 1 v Cobh Ramblers 3

Kerry FC hosted Cobh Ramblers on Sunday but lost out to the Cork side in a very competitive and entertaining encounter.

Both defences dominated the opening half and chances were at a premium. However the visitors took the lead just after the restart when JJ Foley netted after he was quickest to react in the box.

Ben Delaney hit a vicious free from 30 metres and when McCrohan parried Foley pounced to score.

Blake Wyse added a second goal in the 65th minute following another great move.

Syzmon Jasinski pulled a goal back for Kerry a minute later when Edison Jahiri found him with a great pass.

However the visitors added a third goal in the 72nd minute through Alex Walsh. Kerry piled on the pressure on the Cobh defence for the last 20 minutes.

They created enough chances to win the match. Christy Burke shot over on 3 occasions. In the 77th minute Saad Abdulla jumped high to head a corner powerfully to the top corner but Morrissey in goal unbelievably clawed the ball around the post.

In the closing stages he also made great saves from Edison Jahiri and Rob Keane to deny Kerry. On the day Kerry also had good performances from Cody Mc Mahon, Ethan Ballard and Nikita Hoare
