KERRY FC will be hoping to secure their first points in the SSE Airtricity First Division when they welcome Treaty United to Mounthawk Park this Friday evening in Matchday 3 of the season.

The game has a kick-off time of 7:45 and it’s another sellout so if you haven’t a ticket, don’t show up at the grounds. You can catch the game on www.loitv.ie for €5, tune into Radio Kerry for live updates or head to selected pubs in Tralee which are showing the game on big screens.

Kerry FC have a number of players in the squad still suffering with injuries. Mark Carey remains on the long-term injury list and won’t be available and Trpimir Vrlijack is out with an ankle injury.

Fitness tests are continuing on Junior Ankomah who remains doubtful while there are question marks regarding the availability of Graham O’Reilly who also missed the trip to Bray Wanderers last Friday. Matt Keane suffered a broken nose against Bray but is fighting to make the matchday squad.

First-Team Manager Billy Dennehy said he had a lot of positives from last week but there was obviously more work to do.

“The learnings are coming very, very quickly. You know when you come to this level the learnings within the team and the group are there in every single game,” he said.

“I think we are starting to see that now in every game we play, there are a lot of positives and things that we can learn quickly and adapt to for the Treaty game on Friday night. A lot of positives but a lot to work on for sure,” he added.

Leo Gaxha scored the first ever League of Ireland goal for Kerry FC last Friday and says you have think fast in this tough and physical league.

Leo Gaxha.

“I found the standard to be really good here in this league. It’s a tough division but I knew that coming in here. I didn’t land home thinking it was going to be a rollover and it was going to be easy,” he said.

“It’s extremely physical with a lot of good players. You have got to be on your toes at all times. You have to anticipate everything. Tough and physical, that’s the main thing I have found since arriving here at the club. In England I played with the Sheffield united U23’s and it’s a lot more technical, you mightn’t get pressed at certain times but here you don’t have a second on the ball. You get pressed and tackles flying in. It makes you think quicker and smarter,” he added.
