Kerry GAA Makes It Into Top Ten Google Sports Search List

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH’s millions had nothing over the Kingdom in 2014, when it came to the Irish public’s interest in sports teams.

In a top ten list of sports searches compiled by Google Trends in Ireland, Kerry GAA, made it in the top ten – just ahead of Chelsea FC – in ninth place.

No doubt that 37th All-Ireland success was the achievement that got the nation searching Kerry GAA more than any other Gaelic football team.

Kieran Donaghy is a well known Chelsea fan but his heroics in the latter stages of the All-Ireland championship went a long way in beating the club he supports.

Coming just ahead of Kerry in a list dominated by English soccer clubs are Kilkenny, who are also the only other representative from the GAA world.

The highest ranking Irish team are Leinster in 4th. They’re also the only Rugby team which means no place for Munster.

No surprises that English soccer heavy weights top the charts with Arsenal in first followed by Liverpool FC and Manchester United.

With both Colm Cooper and Tommy Walsh returning to the Kerry setup, let’s hope we give the nation even more to search about in 2015.
