IT’S the busiest time of the year for St Vincent de Paul as they try to help as many people in need as they can at Christmas.

Their job was made a bit easier on Thursday when Kerry Group made a donation of €10,000 to the organisation in the county.

Director of Corporate Affairs at Kerry Group handed over the cheque to Paddy Kevane and Junior Locke at the company’s headquarters in town.

“Kerry Group is pleased to present a cheque to St Vincent de Paul to help with their seasonal campaign,” said Frank Hayes.

“We truly appreciate the work that they do in helping the needy at this time. Our gesture marks the retirement of Chief Executive Stan McCarthy earlier this year, so staff in Tralee wanted to make a donation to St Vincent de Paul to mark that occasion.”

St Vincent de Paul were delighted with Kerry Group’s contribution to their campaign. Around €170,000 has been spent by St Vincent de Paul on food for distribution to poor Kerry families in the run-up to Christmas.

“We’d like to thank Kerry Group for this donation. It makes our job that bit easier at this time of year,” said Junior Locke of St Vincent de Paul.
