A RETIRED farmer from Kerry won prizes totalling an impressive €41,000 on the National Lottery TV game show Winning Streak last Saturday on RTÉ One.

John Reidy from Dromulton, near Scartaglin, was delighted with his winnings as he scooped €38,000 in cash and won a holiday to Madeira, Portugal worth €3,000.

A true Kerryman, born and bred, John was supported in the studio audience last Saturday by his wife, Síle (the couple have been married for 45 years) and their four adult children. He was also cheered on by some of eight grandchildren who are Cillian, Owen, Aaron, Conor, Ava, Aoife, Katie and Emma.

He said he was watching Winning Streak with Síle the Saturday evening before when he was shocked at seeing his own scratch card pulled out of the drum by Marty and Sinead. John said the past week was like a dream.

He has been retired for almost a decade now from where he was a farmer for his working life. Now with a bit more time on his hands he enjoys spending time with Síle and his family.

John has a big love for GAA and loves watching Gaelic Football, whether it’s the local side Scartaglin (with whom he was involved in the running of for many years) or whether he is cheering on the boys in the gold and green of Kerry.

With his winnings from the show John will get the house decorated and will be sure to treat his family over Christmas.
