‘Kerry Pride Festival’ In Full Swing

Posted by

THIS week saw the start of the annual Kerry Pride Festival for the LGBTQ community in the county and there’s plenty of events coming up over the weekend in the town.

“It’s going really well, we have received fantastic support from the businesses in the town,” said Margaret O’Donoghue of Kerry Pride.

The festival which was established in 2012 seeks to provide an opportunity for everyone to show their pride for Kerry’s diverse community.

The festival began on Monday and will continue straight through until Sunday.

“So far numbers have been small, but we’re not expecting big numbers until the weekend. On Wednesday nighta we had a fashion show in The Earl of Desmond which was a great night,” said Margaret.

On Friday night there is a  ‘Drumming Circle Workshop’ in Castlemaine and ‘Kerry Festival of Pride Fairy Tale Bingo” in Nightjar in The Square.

The ‘Pride Parade’ will take place on Saturday from the Brandon at 3pm while the ‘The Night of Pride’ that night takes place in the Earl of Desmond.
