Kerry Well Represented At Showcase Ireland Event In Dublin

At the Showcase Ireland event in Dublin last weekend were Zoe Daly – Founder Eriu; Rebeccas Marsden – Forge Design Factory; Don O’Neill – Fashion Consultant Don O’Neill Design; Ngaire Takano – Wool Circular Economy; Eve Savage – IKC3 Project at MTU Kerry and Tim Yeomans – Manager Shannon ABC at MTU.

KERRY was well represented at the Showcase Ireland event which took place over three days from January 21-23, at the RDS.

The event showcased the best of Irish design and research and innovation focused on sustainable biobased materials for product design.

Fashion designer Don O’Neill who has had a very high profile career in London and New York and now residing in Ballyheigue detailed how high end international brands are embracing natural wool and tweed fabrics synonymous with Ireland’s heritage, which can provide Irish manufacturers and designers with new routes to market.

Eve Savage, Educational Designer with the  IKC3 Project and Dr Tim Yeomans, Centre Manager at Shannon ABC, located at Munster Technological University Kerry Campus, were guest speakers on the topic of research and education & outreach opportunities for the Irish wool sector and the promotion of the Irish Grown Wool Council of Ireland.

Eve also highlighted a number of projects carried out by IKC3 and the Circular Bioeconomy Cluster South-West at MTU Kerry delivering high impact circular and sustainable solutions for industry including world class company Donegal Yarns Ltd.
