PIETA House, the organisation that helps those who are feeling suicidal or depressed, has opened a branch in Moyderwell.

This is a welcome boost for the town as previously, if someone needed help from Pieta House, they would have to go to Castleisland to do so.

The new building opened its doors on Monday. It is situated at 28 Moyderwell, which is the first left after the entrance to Presentation Secondary School, heading towards the town centre.

In 2014 alone, over 5,000 people came through the doors of Pieta House suffering from suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm.

The organisation offers one to one support with for people who may be suffering from suicidal issues or self harm, help is available for everyone, a doctors reference or psychiatric report is not required.

Their flagship fundraiser is the ‘Darkness Into Light’ event  which takes place on May 9.

Nearly a quarter of a million have taken part in Darkness Into Light to date. This year it will in 80 venues across Ireland and abroad including Listowel, Dingle and Killarney.

Both the Tralee and Castleisland centres can be contacted on  066-7163660.
