THIS year’s Kingdom County Fair took place on Sunday afternoon in a deluge of torrential rain which organisers could have done without.
Still, despite the conditions, hundreds of people were not going to let the weather spoil one of the best family day’s out in the county.
Speaking to one of the organisers, Mary Barry, on Monday, she said the weather was disappointing, but overall everything went according to plan.
“With all the work that goes in organising the fair, it is disappointing,” said Mary Barry.
“Everything went well on the day with regards the different classes and events – they were up on last year. But the gate was down,” said Mary.
“We can’t order the weather unfortunately, but the place still looked beautiful and all the stands were full. It’s hard for business when people are going around with wellies and the weather is miserable,” she said.
The Kingdom County Fair celebrated its 66th year with over €50,000 in prize money and trophies awarded.
