A MAN has been arrested after entering a shop with a hatchet and robbing a sum of money last night.
The man threatened staff at the convenience store next to the petrol pumps at Kelliher’s Inver in Rathass at around 8.20pm.
The man, aged in his 40s, made off through Rathass cemetery with a sum of money. There was no injuries reported.

Gardaí responding to reports of the incident came upon a man fitting the description close to Fountain Court, Tralee. The man in his 40s, was arrested and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tralee Garda Station.
In a follow up search of the area money, a hatchet and clothing were recovered by Gardai.
