Mark Griffin.

MARK Griffin is stepping away from the Kerry senior football squad for the forthcoming season.

In an interview with the Irish Examiner, the St Michael’s Foilmore clubman cited work commitments — he is a project manager with Enercon — and a wish to do a bit of travelling as reasons for leaving the panel and not being able to fully commit to Kerry for the 2020 season.

The 28 year old — who did not feature as prominently as he would have wished in Kerry’s route to the All-Ireland final this year — said he has not had a prolonged break from football since the age of 18 and needed to recharge. To read the full interview, click here.
