Mayor Asks Council To Look At Constructing Footpath From Blennerville To Tonevane Bend

THE Mayor of Tralee has again asked Kerry County Council to look at extending the footpath in Blennerville village out to the bend at Tonevane.

Speaking at last week’s meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council, Mayor of Tralee, Labour Cllr. Terry O’Brien asked that the Council would examine the possibility of providing the footpath to the metal bridge before Tonevane bend as this is part of a recognised walk in the county.

Mayor O’Brien said many tourists are using the walking route and are taking their lives in their hands by walking along the side of the busy road.

He said funds had to be found from somewhere to construct the footpath.

In reply, Council management said the location will be further examined to establish the current available width to introduce Active Travel facilities along this section.

If it can be established that the available width can be obtained/ acquired, then the findings will be discussed with the TII Active Travel Section.
