Credit Union County Senior Football League: Division 6, Round 7 Result
Milltown/Castlemaine ‘B’ 2-11
Castleisland Desmonds ‘B’ 2-08

Venue: Castleisland

Referee: Michael Moriarty (Churchill)

Well done to our Senior ‘B’ side and management who made it three wins on the spin and four wins from six games overall in the Credit Union County Senior Football League, maintaining their unbeaten record away from home with a hard earned victory against Castleisland Desmonds on a beautiful evening for football last Friday.

We trailed 1-6 to 0-8 at half time despite playing well for much of the opening half and creating plenty chances but a lack of killer instinct in front of goal was proving to be our achilles heel as we retired for the interval with it all to play for. First half scorers included Donal Kelliher, Jamie O’Shea, Kieran McKenna, Jeremiah Hayes, Martin Foley, Adam Lenihan (2) and Patrick O’Sullivan.

In the second half we suffered the worst possible start when Castleisland Desmonds rattled the back of the net to push their lead out to four points early doors but gradually we battled our way back into proceedings and goals from Kieran McKenna and Donal Kelliher aligned with some important points as the half wore on from Dylan O’Neil and the aforementioned Kelliher seen us over the winning line with three points to spare. Castleisland Desmonds tried hard to get something from the contest but only managed to add two second half points as the defence tightened up and a good save from a goalscoring opportunity late on  ensured we would emerge victorious.

Mighty stuff lads, keep up the good work!
