Credit Union County Senior Football League: Division 1, Round 8 Result
Milltown/Castlemaine 3-10 (19)
Ballymacelligott 3-13 (22)

Venue: Ballymacelligott

Referee: Fergus Clifford (Listry)

Hard luck to our Senior side and management who narrowly lost out on Sunday afternoon to Ballymac in Round 8 of the Credit Union County Senior Football League.
Ballymac had a dominant first half and led 2-8 to 0-6 at the half time interval with the goals coming from Aidan Breen (Penalty) and Daire Keane.

Eanna O’Connor kept the scoreboard ticking over at the other end for us along with Jonathan O’Sullivan but the momentum was very much with the home side whose direct running was causing huge issues for Milltown/Castlemaine

The second half was a much different story as our lads showed massive courage to battle their way back into the contest.

Three goals including two from the penalty spot by Cathal Moriarty and a point attempt which dropped into the net from Eanna O’Connor saw us take the lead as we headed for injury time in the 2nd half but a late goal from Ballymac deep into stoppage time saw them run out three point winners. A tough defeat for our lads after their second half efforts but plenty of learnings to be taken ahead of next weekend’s fixture.

Credit Union County Senior Football League: Division 6, Round 8 Result
Milltown/Castlemaine ‘B’ 2-07 (13)
Beaufort ‘B’ 3-12 (21)

Hard luck to our Junior side last Wednesday evening who went down against Beaufort at a sun soaked Paddy Burke Memorial Park in Milltown.

In what was our lads second outing in a matter of days, the visitors lined out the stronger of the two sides this evening and had a 1-7 to 0-3 lead built up by the half time interval with the aid of the breeze. Our three points scorers were Linus Óg Burke, Donal Kelliher and Anthony Barrett.

A strong start to the second half which saw the away side bag two further goals and a couple of points had them 3-11 to 0-4 ahead by the 45th minute, Donal Kelliher grabbing our only point of the half at that juncture.

Credit to our lads however who never dropped the heads and two goals from Jeremiah Hayes and Donal Kelliher in the final quarter aligned with pointed efforts from Liam Roche and Jeremiah Hayes saw us cut the deficit in half the full time whistle as we ended up going down by eight points.

The girls played some fantastic football
Special thanks to Castleisland Desmonds for hosting us and for all the families who travelled to cheer on the players.
It was the girls first time having their very own set of jerseys to wear.
Sincere thanks to our own club for supplying the jerseys . The team and management are looking forward to more matches over the coming weeks and months.

U13 Boys: County League Results
Well done to our U13 Green and White teams who welcomed near neighbours Laune Rangers and Killarney side Dr. Crokes to the Paddy Burke Memorial Park in Milltown on Sunday evening for the County League. Both sides came away with brilliant victories to continue their good form so far in the competition and qualify for their respective finals next week.
The Green side had a 5-11 to 1-07 win in Division 3 of the County League against Laune Rangers to make it 4 wins from 4 games. Great performances all over the field and a well deserved result for the players and management who are putting in sterling work on the training field weekly.
The White side, not to be outdone, were involved in an end to end contest with Dr. Crokes which resulted in a 5-14 to 5-11 victory. The team led by 8 points at one point but the visitors fought back to cut the margin to 1 point with the last quarter looming. Our lads regained their composure however to hold out with 3 points the difference at the final whistle. The team has 3 wins from 4 games.
The two teams have qualified for County League Finals now next weekend. The Green team will meet Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane whilst the White team are awaiting confirmation of their opponent but it is likely to be Ballyduff or Keel/Listry.
Congratulations to the players and management involved. Keep up the good work

Congratulations: Athletics Success
Cian O’Brien who represents Milltown/Castlemaine GAA at Minor level switched codes once more at the weekend following his recent success which saw him finish 1st in the Munster 200m competition in a time of 22.61 seconds.
On Saturday last in Tullamore Cian competed in the 200m National Final and finished 3rd. All at the club would like to congratulate him on his recent achievements, a terrific athlete who has a bright future in store on the sporting front. Keep up the great work!
