MERCY Mounthawk basketball is in rude health after recent victories left them looking forward to All-Ireland quarter-finals in the new year.
The under 16 boys defeated CBS Tralee in the semi finals and ISK Killorglin in the Southwest final so they now move onto the All Ireland league quarter-final stage.
The boys are also through to the All-Ireland semi-final of the cup having beaten Rathmore, CBS Portlaoise and CBS Leixlip on the way . They now play St Malachy’s of Belfast on January 14 in Dublin.
The senior boys have had another historic year and are currently undeafted in all competitions.
The beat ISK Killorglin in the Southwest final to capture their third title in a row – and fourth in five years – which sends them into the quarter final of the All-Ireland league.
The boys have also had a massive cup run beating Sligo, Belvedere and Templeogue and they now play defending champions St Aidan’s CBS in the All-Ireland semi-final on January 10 in the Neptune Stadium.
Great credit must go to both teams for the outstanding efforts and hard work they have put in this year. The very best of luck in the new year in their quests for a first All-Ireland A boys title.
