NA Gaeil GAA club was one of just three Kerry clubs to be awarded a Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha 2023 medal from Glór na nGael and the GAA.
The news was announced from Croke Park last Friday evening, but the presentation of a Bronze Medal was made by Clíodhna Ní Dhufaigh, Munster Development Officer with Glór na nGael at the clubhouse on Thursday night.
The other Kerry clubs announced to receive medals last Friday were Cumann Caid Ban Chorca Dhuibhne (Gold) and An Daingean (Silver).

Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha is a collaborative initiative between Glór na nGael and the GAA. The partnership is dedicated to enhancing the presence and usage of the Irish language across GAA clubs nationwide.
The medal serves as a testament to Na Gaeil’s ongoing efforts in integrating the Irish language into their activities and fostering its growth among their members and the community.
The club held a celebration of their efforts on Thursday night with traditional Irish music, singing and conversation as gaeilge to welcome Clíodhna who was impressed with Na Gaeil’s efforts.
“A lot of work has gone in from the club to achieve the bronze medal this year. I’m delighted to be here in the club tonight to see how alive and vibrant the Irish language is among the members and in Tralee itself,” said Clíodhna.
“It’s great for Na Gaeil to achieve the bronze — especially as they’re not in a Gaeltacht area — and it’s testament to the work put in by Cáit Uí Chonchúir and Colm Ó Suilleabháin to promote the scheme and Irish in the club,” added Clíodhna.
