PHOTOS: MTU Kerry Campus Hosts Sports Scholarships Awards Evening

The students who received awards at the ceremony at MTU Kerry Campus.

THERE were 39 students from the MTU Kerry Campus honoured for their sporting achievements at a special Sports Scholarships awards ceremony on Monday evening.

The ceremony saw another large crowd of invited guests, staff, students and family members join the award recipients in the pre-Christmas celebrations.

MTU Kerry Campus Sports Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a high standard of sports performance and achievement. The students receiving awards represented a broad spectrum of sporting disciplines.

Speaking at the ceremony, both Dr. Brendan O’ Donnell, Vice President Academic Affairs & Registrar, and Jimmy Denihan, Chairperson of the MTU Governing Body congratulated the award recipients.

“The sports scholarships are designed to support students in pursuing and excelling in their sporting as well as their academic goals at MTU,” said Dr O’Donnell.

Guest speaker on the night was former MTU student, current World Coastal Rowing Champion, Irish Olympian and PhD candidate Monika Dukarska.

Monika encouraged the MTU students and athletes to continue to strive for greatness in their sport and in their education and to always appreciate and lean on their support network of family and friends during the highs and the lows.
