Race Night Launch: The Race Night committee would like to send out a big thanks to everyone who supported last Wednesday night’s Race Night launch. Also a big thank you to our 3 Kerry stars Jack, Stefan and Diarmuid who give their time to meet and greet everyone and patiently posed for hundreds of photos capturing this special occasion.

To all the coaches, mentors and various committee members who are an integral part of the club. Finally, to all the parents and young players who are all so proud to be associated with Na Gaeil. Thank you. Na Gaeil Abú

Scór: The Scór Sínsear County Final was held last Friday night in Currow Community Hall. We had entries in 3 categories – Nuachleas (stage presentation), Amhranaiocht Aonair (solo singing), and Aithriseoracht (story telling/recitation).

Helen Sugrue’s wonderful telling of The Holy Kiss by Bryan McMahon was more than enough to win her the County title. In the drama, Mary Quirke’s ‘Forward Thinking’ was brought to hilarious life by Helen Sugrue, Sorcha Ui Suilleabháin, Paul Fitzgibbon, Martin Grealish, Noelle Kingston, Mary Reen & Colm O Suilleabháin, ensuring that this County trophy also came our way.

In the solo singing competition Mary Ellen O Connor gave the loveliest rendition of the ballad “Down by the Glenside” & was unfortunate not to be placed. All roads now lead to Cappamore, Co Limerick next Sunday for the Munster Final at 6pm. The very best of luck to all our representatives.

Senior men’s fixture: Last Saturday our lads hosted St. Pats in the 1st round of the Lee Strand sponsored Tralee/St. Brendans District championship. We were without a few regulars so a number of our fringe players got lots of game time.

It was a close game all through with Na Gaeil holding a 1 point lead at halftime, 2-5 to 0-10. In the last quarter St Pats held a 4 point lead but Diarmuid O’Connor drove through for a great goal to leave the minimum between the sides. However St Pats finished the stronger and added 2 goals in the final minutes to take the win on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 3-7, St Pats 2-15.

U14 girls: Congratulations to our u14 girls who won on the double last week. Firstly they won the North Kerry Div 2 Shield final last Monday when they defeated Austin Stacks by 11 points to 7.

Then last Thursday night they captured the Town League title when they defeated John Mitchels. Well done to all the girls and the management.

U16 girls: Congratulations to our girls who defeated Annascaul/Dingle last night by 2-15 to 1-6 and in doing so they claimed the North Kerry Division 3 title. All the girls and management would like to wish a very speedy recovery to Sorcha Casey who sustained a hand injury during the game.
