NA GAEIL SENIOR: Ballymacelligott v Na GAEIL to play County League game on Sunday May 10th 2:30pm.
NA GAEIL U16:Under 16: Na Gaeil hosted Laune Rangers in Div. 1. of the ‘Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee Central Region’ semi-final. Playing against the breeze in the first half the home team did well and were up by a point at half time in this low scoring game. Half time score Na Gaeil 0-4, Laune Rangers 0-3.
Na Gaeil extended their lead ten minutes into the second half when Dara Devine pointed from a free. Two points from play by Laune Rangers and the sides were level in the 4th quarter of the game. Na Gaeil edged into the lead again in this exciting contest with eight minutes left on the clock. Laune Rangers came looking for scores but good defending kept them out. Seconds to go and all was looking good for the home team but a misjudged pass handed Laune Rangers the opportunity to equalise the game at six points each, and force extra-time to decide the outcome.
Laune Rangers had the better start to this period and two points from play put them ahead. Diarmuid O’Connor pulled back the lead to one for Na Gaeil with a well taken free. The visitors again extended their lead two minutes into the second period of extra time with a pointed free but Na Gaeil always battled on. They pressurised the Laune Rangers defence and despite good play the scores didn’t come. A point in the last minute left one between the teams before the final whistle was blown, favouring Laune Rangers who booked their place in the final against Dingle. Final Score Na Gaeil 0-08, Laune Rangers 0-09.
Well done lads for a great campaign and thanks to Mike Burns, Liam Goggin and Darren Burns who mentored and trained them.
NA GAEIL U 12: The boys travelled to Kilcummin last Sunday evening for Round 4 of the County League. In testing conditions more suited to winter the boys put in great performances in both matches. Our under 12s got the better of a strong Kilcummin team in the end thanks to a great team effort and some great score taking from all our forwards who were given great supply of ball from midfield and defence.
Meanwhile in the other match,Kilcummin Under 11s got to grips with our boys in the second half of a very entertaining match where we had an outstanding team performance in the first half to lead comfortably at half time. Kilcummin’s options of players on the subs bench was the difference in the end as they overcame a spirited Na Gaeil team.

NA GAEIL U14: Na Gaeil played Austin Stacks in the final round of the county league last Wednesday evening. Both teams had already qualified for the semi-final stage but this game would decide who would have home advantage in the next round.
Austin Stacks opened the scoring with a point, but Na Gaeil quickly equalised when Dara Reen opened the scoring for the home side. The next score of the game came from Mathew Burke but this was cancelled out by an equalising point from Stacks on the twelfth minute. Dara Reen got his second point of the game to restore Na Gaeil’s lead. Austin Stacks however were soon back in the lead when they scored the first goal of the tie and followed up with a point to open a three point lead. Na Gaeil responded with two points from Devon Burns to leave the score after a tight first half Na Gaeil 0-5 Austin Stacks 1-3.
Austin Stacks got on top in the second period and scored four unanswered points early in the second half, Na Gaeil tried to get back into the game but a goal midway through the second half left Stacks in control of the game. They score another two unanswered points to extend their lead to ten points. However Na Gaeil didn’t give up and began to create a number of chances. Points from Mathew Burke and Jack Sheehan were followed by a goal from Tom Walsh which left Stacks leading by five points. Unfortunately the Na Gaeil team couldn’t add any further scores and Stacks got the last score of the game to leave the final score Na Gaeil 1-7 Austin Stacks 2-10.

NA GAEIL LADIES: NA GAEIL v Listowel Emmets Div 1 North Kerry league. We played away to Listowel on Monday in very wet and cold conditions. Listowel started strongly but our backs of Blaithnaid and Grainne stood strong and protected Mary in goals. Our midfield of Nessa and Nora started to take control and started to get the ball forward to our forwards, with Sibeal getting the opening point.
Meagan got the next point from long range, with Jadyn getting another fine effort of a point. Sarah made a great run from the half back line, scoring a good point.
Listowel came at us and scored a goal but we went up the other end with Meagan and Jadyn scoring another 2 points before half time. We made a couple of changes at half time with Captain Muireann ( Birthday Girl) coming into midfield, Mary coming into defence, Brid and Blaithnaid playing up front. Meagan and Blaithnaid started the 2nd half with a point each.
Clodagh came in the backs, with some stout defending from herself and Erika. Caoimhe who had been a thorn in the Listowel defence earned herself a penalty but was saved. Brid and Kay came close to scoring a goal each as we lay siege to their goals. Our perseverance paid off with Sibeal getting the 1st, with Nessa scoring a fine individual goal from a mazy run. Meagan got our last goal and score. Well done to all on a rough and wet night.
NA GAEIL LADIES: NA GAEIL v Southern Gaels Div 1 County League. After travelling down to South Kerry 3 times last year we had Southern Gaels at home on Thursday evening. This was a game where Gaels would be favourites to win but we started strong in midfield with Muireann winning the ball from the throw in, finding Meagan who won an early free and put it over the bar.
Nora and Erika followed up with another point each. Gaels got their opening point. Clodagh in goals, found Nessa with her kick out, who played the ball forward to Muireann and passed to Jadyn and finished off with a great goal. Gaels came back at us and scored 2 quick goals and 3 points as we took a bit of a wobble for about 5 mins. But we settled and Erika and Ciara got us another 2 points each before half time. We regrouped at half time with Ciara going into goals and Maura, Ria and Grainne defending on the full back line. We started the second sluggish and conceded an early goal but this woke us up and we drove forward with Nora leading the way scoring a point, Jadyn followed up with another goal. Nora and Jadyn exchanged another 2 points each.
We were in control, with Captain Blaithnaid (Birthday Girl), Brid and Clodagh making space for our runners going forward, Nessa controlling the centre half back line allowing Mary and Sarah to make driving runs. Meagan got us another point. We conceded a soft penalty which Gaels scored but with points from Nora, Erika and Meagan, we finished the game strongly, winning by 4 points. Well done to all on a very exciting game. We now have a break from County League until after the Junior Cert and wishing all those that are doing it the best of luck.
NA GAEIL LADIES: NA GAEIL v Corca Dhuibhne Div 1 North Kerry League. After a very busy week, we played Corca Dhuibhne on Monday morning. Conditions were good.
Brid started in goals and made some great saves in the 1st half with our backs Clodagh, Grainne and Ciara being put under fierce pressure. We struggled to hold Corca with their strong play going forward.Captain Nessa, Sarah and Ria were battling trying to hold their forwards, Nora and Muireann were working hard in midfield. Muireann and Meagan got a couple of points each. Our forwards of Sibeal , Blaithnaid, Brid and Caoimhe were causing all kinds of trouble but for some great saves from the keeper, we would have been well up but Corca were picking off scores from distance.
We made a few changes in the 2nd half with Sarah coming into midfield. We started the second half strongly with 2 early points from Jadyn. Meagan followed up a goal from another one of her mazy runs. Sibeal scored another fine point when she got a pass from debutant Aisling.
With more scores coming from Jadyn, Erika and Meagan, we were dominating the game but due to the 1st half scores that Corca got, we were unable to catch them. We would like to wish Nora and the Kerry U16 team the best of luck next weekend in the Munster Final against Cork.
