Welcoming the news, Minister Foley said: “There is no doubt that sport has been hit hard by this global pandemic and this funding will provide a major boost for smaller sporting clubs and groups across Kerry. This funding will help to encourage people of all abilities to participate in sport and physical activity.”

Cleo Murphy from the Kerry branch of the Green Party also welcomed the news saying; “It’s great to see Kerry Sports Partnership receiving €220,051 to cover its core costs this year and a further €25,000 for its programme.

My Green Party colleague, Minister Catherine Martin has allocated €9.5m to 29 Local Sports Partnerships for 2021 – an increase of 15% on last year’s figure. Sports funding is vitally important in the face of the current lockdown. We in the Kerry branch of the Green Party are delighted to welcome this funding.”
