Moira Murell

The new County Manager, Moira Murrell.

MOIRA Murrell’s nomination as Chief Executive of Kerry County Council was unanimously approved by the elected members of Kerry County Council at the July monthly meeting of the Council on Monday.

A native of Killarney, Ms Murrell will take up her position as Chief Executive at the start of August.

She currently works as a Divisional Manager with Cork County Council.

Moira moved to Cork County Council in 2007 as a Director of Services where she served for three years in the West Cork Division. In 2010, Moira was appointed Divisional Manager with responsibility for the North Cork Region.

Moira began her career in Kerry County Council in 1993 having completed her education in the University of Limerick. Subsequently, while working with Kerry County Council, she completed a Masters Degree.

During her time in Kerry County Council, she worked in a number of various sections, including the Environmental Services Department, in Killarney Town Council and in the Finance Department, where she served as Senior Executive Officer prior to her departure to Cork County Council.

Moira is a native of Killarney town and daughter of Mary and the late Charles Murrell. Moira has one brother John and two sisters Breda and Margaret. She lives in Killarney and is married to Brendan O’Neill and they have three children, Patrick, Mary Anna and Charles.
