A recent Open Day at the college to showcase the hairdressing department.

NORTH Kerry College of Further Education is currently enrolling for a number of courses in many different fields.

North Kerry College  (formerly Listowel Community College) is the largest provider of Post-Leaving Certificate education in North Kerry & Limerick West.

The college provides a range of accredited courses at Level 5 and 6. Whether you want to be a nurse, childcare worker, scientist, sports coach, web designer, hairdresser, artist etc. they have a course that will start you on your way.

“We offer practical training, giving you useful, adaptable skills,” said Principal, Stephen Goulding Principal. “The College has forged a reputation of providing quality graduates for local industry and further study at third level. 25 full time programmes at levels 5 and 6 are available at North Kerry College of Further Education”.

Course provision includes: Office Administration for Business, Business with Marketing/Administration, Legal Secretary, Medical Secretary, Business & Computing, Hairdressing, Hairdressing & Cosmetics, Hairdressing Advanced City & Guilds, Nursing, Childcare, Pre University Arts & Sport and Recreation, Animal Care & Grooming, Engineering, Theatre Studies, Art, Craft and Design, Pharmacy Studies & many more.

The college is rapidly expanding and ideally located to serve the North Kerry & West Limerick region and wider areas in close proximity to the University of Limerick and the IT Tralee.

They have close links with all third level institutions and many of their students progress to certificate and degree courses on their third level programmes.

Excellent results are achieved by learners. Over 90% of those who achieve a full award with them get offers and progress to third level.

Our courses are constantly being revised to ensure that they meet the needs of students in terms of personal development and job opportunities.

We have a dedicated staff, who are highly qualified in their fields, concerned for learner welfare and interested in seeing students progress.

Courses are designed to enhance your career prospects, with strong links to local business/industry/commerce.

Progression opportunities are available to a wide variety of third level courses at institutions across the country through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

They are building links with partner colleges in the UK which give learners opportunities to complete their degree in nursing, and many other areas if a place cannot be accessed in Ireland.

Learners of all ages are catered for and our track record in supporting mature applicants with the transition involved in returning to study is very strong.

Our college has a friendly atmosphere, with relatively small class groups providing a unique learning experience.

A Guidance Counsellor service is available to support you in your learning and future career choices or progression to further studies. They have a full disability and access service.

Students can apply for Maintenance Grants and anyone in receipt of social welfare payments can avail of financial assistance through the VTOS or Return to Education programmes.

All of their programmes are Quality Assured courses leading to QQI National certification.
