THE fourth Tralee 5km Santa Fun Run takes place on Sunday, December 11 at 11am in memory of Fiona Moore with all proceeds this year in aid of Barretstown.

Fiona’s parents Deirdre and Martin Moore joined the other  organisers at Tralee Bay Wetlands on Wednesday to launch the event.

This year, the organisers choose Barretstown because it helps sick children and their families get away from their normal family life and get involved in fun camps that are designed with families in mind.

Their motto is hospitals treat the illness and Barretstown treat the child.

To date the Tralee 5km Santa fun run has raised almost €30,000 for three charities which would have benefited Fiona Moore during her illness.

Fiona Moore passed away at the age of 16 in May 2013 from Pulmonary Hypertension, while waiting on a lung transplant.

This year the organisers are hoping the event will be bigger, better and raise loads of much needed funds for a well deserving charity.
